It was the only five star three-day event held this year, with COVID-19 cancelling Kentucky, Badminton, Luhmuhlen, Burghley and Adelaide and forcing the inaugural Maryland competition to be postponed.

Price notched his best ever five star dressage score of 23 penalty points with his 17-year-old campaigner Wesko to sit fourth after the first discipline.

They then added just 0.4 time penalties to their tally in the cross-country and went clear in the showjumping with 0.8 time penalties to finish on 24.2.

Brit Laura Collett aboard London 52 won with her dressage score of 21.3.

Jonelle Price placed 12th aboard Grovine de Reve, with Tim Price 13th on Xavier Faer and 14th on Ringwood Sky Boy.

Top 10 finish for Ko in Georgia

New Zealand golfer Lydia Ko has recorded her third top 10 of the LPGA Tour season.

Ko's finished in a share of eighth place at this week's tournament in Georgia after closing with a three-under par 69.

She's finished 10-under par for the tournament, six shots behind the winner, American Ally McDonald.

McDonald has beaten compatriot Danielle Kang by a shot.

Lydia Ko is projected to rise to 13th in the overall LPGA Tour standings, with the next tournament a month away.

Record-breaking win for Hamilton

Six-times world champion Lewis Hamilton has become the most successful Formula One driver of all time in terms of race wins with a dominant 92nd career victory at the Portuguese Grand Prix.

The Mercedes driver, who took the chequered flag a huge 25.592 seconds ahead of second-placed team mate Valtteri Bottas, had equalled Ferrari great Michael Schumacher's record 91 wins at the previous race at the Nuerburgring.

Victory, along with a bonus point for fastest lap, stretched the Briton's championship lead over Bottas to 77 points with five races remaining.

"You are re-writing the history books," Mercedes told Hamilton over the team radio, with team boss Toto Wolff adding: "Lewis, 92. 92."

"I owe it all to these guys here and back at the factory," said Hamilton.

"It's just been such a privilege working with them," added the Briton.

Venus collects another doubles title

New Zealand tennis player Michael Venus and his Australian playing partner John Peers have captured their third ATP doubles title of the year.

The second seeds have won the Antwerp Open final with a 6-3 6-4 win over India's Rohan Bopanna and Dutchman Matwe Middelkoop.

It was another fine performance from Venus and Peers who didn't drop a set during the tournament.

It's Venus' 13th ATP doubles title and his third with Peers this year following their wins at the ATP 500 tournaments in Dubai and Hamburg.

Venus is projected to climb two spots to equal his career high of eight in the ATP doubles rankings this week.

Brit wins Giro d'Italia

Briton Tao Geoghegan Hart has won the Giro d'Italia after beating Maglia Rosa holder Jai Hindley in the final-stage time trial in Milan.

The 25-year-old started the final day 0.86 seconds behind Hindley but he beat the Australian to win the race by 39 seconds and give Ineos-Grenadiers their second Giro title after Chris Froome's 2018 triumph.

Meanwhile, Richard Carapaz of Ecuador has claimed the overall leader's red jersey on the Vuelta a Espana after dropping Primoz Roglic on the final ascent in the sixth stage, a 146.4-km ride from Biescas to Formigal.

Spain's Ion Izaguirre took a solo victory on the day, beating Canadian Michael Woods and Portugal's Rui Costa by 25 seconds, while further down the road, Ineos-Greandiers rider Carapaz attacked in a group of top contenders.

Carapaz, who won the Giro d'Italia last year, crossed the line 55 seconds off the pace with France's David Gaudu and Spaniard Marc Soler, as Slovenian Roglic finished 43 seconds further behind.

Premier League leaders beaten

Southampton has handed Everton its first defeat of the Premier League season.

The Saints have beaten Carlo Ancelotti's side 2-0 at St Mary's Stadium.

Everton remain top of the standings with 13 points and a healthier goal difference than city rivals Liverpool while Southampton moved up to sixth.

Leicester City has won at Arsenal for the first time in 47 years, with substitute Jamie Vardy's late close-range header enough to secure victory in the Premier League.

The win lifted Brendan Rogers' side to fourth on 12 points, while the Gunners stay in 10th place on nine after six games.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are on 10 points after drawing 1-1 with Newcastle United.
