The search for a kayaker missing off the Kāpiti Coast, north of Wellington, will be suspended at nightfall.
A woman was seen entering the water on Saturday night in a kayak stolen from a property in Raumati on Friday, and a search was launched.
It continued today with staff from the police, surf lifesaving and search and rescue.
Coastguard says the woman was not wearing a lifejacket.
The woman was wearing a long-sleeved red top and grey trackpants, and carrying a white and pink bag.
A review will take place tomorrow morning ahead of the search resuming.
