A homicide investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead at a property in Whanganui on Tuesday night.
Police said they were called to the property on Fitzherbet Avenue, where they found the dead woman, about 7.11pm.
They were still trying to find out what happened at the property, but a 50-year-old man has been arrested and was helping police with inquiries.
Police said the woman and man were known to each other, and they did not believe there was any ongoing risk to the public.
Formal identification of the woman is yet to take place.
