Two fleeing drivers have been arrested in Auckland after help from the Eagle helicopter crew, police say.
A man who officers believed was driving a stolen vehicle was signalled to stop about 12:30pm on Thursday, on Khyber Pass Road, Inspector Rachel Dolheguy said.
But the driver fled and was tracked, with the Eagle crew helping keep an eye on it from above, she said.
"The vehicle was monitored as it travelled southbound on Manukau Road towards State Highway 20, at times travelling at an excessive speed."
Dolheguy said the driver eventually stopped on Randwick Place and was arrested.
At 1:30am the helicopter was called into action again.
Inspector Rakana Cook said a vehicle that was earlier reported stolen in a Takanini burglary was spotted further north, on Highbrook Drive.
It was driven into a dead-end street and approached by an officer before the driver tried to get away in the vehicle, and the tyres were spiked. The driver then tried to escape on foot, but the police Eagle crew were able to track them from above, Cook said.
Both men were scheduled to appear in Manukau District Court on Thursday.
