A scene examination is continuing at a property where a person died in a fire in Paraparaumu Beach on Friday night.
Police were called to assist Fire and Emergency NZ crews at the Manly Street property shortly after 6pm.
A person at the property was found with critical injuries.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, the person died at the scene, police said in a statement.
Officers will be working alongside FENZ investigators to work out the cause of the fire.
