Wellington's Matiu-Somes Island is to reopen to visitors on Tuesday after being partially closed due to extreme fire risk and depleted water levels.
The island has been closed from midday every day since 16 March this year.
Ranger Jo Greenman says at the time, the island was only receiving water from one of its bores and the fire risk put the public and the island's special biodiversity at risk.
Ms Greenman says there has been good rain in the capital and the island is now receiving water from both of its bores.
