Guam is targeting a return to top spot in their Football World Cup qualifying group.

Oman held Group D leaders Iran to a 1-1 draw in Muscat this morning, moving both teams one point clear of the Matao at the halfway stage in Round 2 of Asian qualifying.

Turkmenistan beat India 2-1 in the other match and Guam coach Gary White says his entire squad was glued to the results as they came in.

"The Oman score is a bit of a surprise but you've got to give all credit to Oman for doing that and it gives us a lot of confidence, because we just played them and tied them as well, so the players are feeling a little bit confident about that. It just goes to show that the Iran game was really down to experience and getting used to playing in that environment and I think these experiences will only help us on the second set of games. Turkmenistan beating India, it looks like India put up a good fight so we're hopign that Turkmenistan will at least feel that when they play us - we want to come in there fresh and ready to go. The goal now is go back on top of the group with a win against Turkmenistan".

The Guam team has spent the week at a training camp in Qatar and leaves for Turkmenistan on Sunday.
