On 12 July, around the small northern Hawke's Bay settlement, 20 burglaries occurred in one night.

Constable Chad Prentice said the offenders were targeting tools and outdoor equipment.

Police searched two properties in Wairoa yesterday, arresting three local men.

Much of the stolen property has been found, and returned to the owners.

But some items such as tool-kits, fishing rods and car batteries have yet to been reunited with their owners, and those missing such things can call the police on 105.

Two men aged in their 20s and one 17-year-old have been charged. They are to appear in the Wairoa District Court this week.

Police are not looking for further offenders in this investigation.
