The NFP lawyers have filed a writ in the High Court against Mohammed Saneem .

The legal action comes after Saneem referred the NFP leader, Biman Prasad, to the anti-corruption commission for alleged breach of the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) Act.

Saneem alleged that in 2017, Prasad donated more than the annual maximum allowed of $US4,700 to the NFP.

Nadi lawyer Adish Narayan is being engaged by the NFP leader.

Narayan demanded an apology from Saneem but had not received one.

The writ also alleged that both Narayan and his law firm AK Lawyers had "been gravely injured in their credit and reputation and in their profession".

They are seeking damages, aggravated damages, punitive or exemplary damages, interest and costs.

The NFP leader told the Fiji Times Narayan had informed him of the legal action.

The Supervisor of Elections and Registrar of Political Parties said he would not comment on the court action.

The court proceedings have timelines for all parties and the registrar will take the required actions within the timeline, Mohammed Saneem said.
