Te Kōhanga Reo National Trust Board is welcoming a new chief executive.
The board has announced Kararaina Cribb will take over the role in July.
Mrs Cribb is of Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Kauwhata and Ngā Puhi whakapapa and is currently a senior manager at the Ministry of Education.
She has worked extensively across education portfolios for several years, including eight years in Kōhanga Reo at both district and head office level.
"I have participated in, contributed to, lived and avidly supported Te Kōhanga Reo movement for at least the last 30 years, as a young mother, employee and advocate for the kaupapa," she said.
She said she believed her upbringing in te ao Māori and her whānau had been the cornerstones of her career pathway.
