Fast-food operator Restaurant Brands is planning to list on the Australian stock exchange this year to reflect the shifting focus of its business.

Its brands include KFC in New Zealand and Australia, along with Pizza Hut, Starbucks Coffee and burger chain Carl's Jr.

The company will apply for listing this month and could be trading on the ASX by the end of September.

Chief financial officer Grant Ellis said the company had been looking at a listing over the Tasman for a while.

"Like a number of New Zealand companies, moving to an Australian stock exchange listing widens the potential opportunities to get equity capital," he said.

Mr Ellis said a dual-listing would benefit the company's global growth ambitions.

"We're not raising any more capital right at the moment, but it provides us with the opportunity to do so where these future growth opportunities present themselves," he said.

Restaurant Brands has been expanding in the past two years with a chain of KFC stores in New South Wales, and Pizza Hut and Taco Bell chains in Hawaii and other Pacific islands.
