Samoa's ruling Human Rights Protection Party is to field the only four candidates in this Friday's Sagaga Le Usoga by-election.
The territorial constituency goes to the polls eight months before the current parliamentary term is to be dissolved in December after its former MP, Muagututagata Peter Ah Him, resigned last month.
Our correspondent says the former cabinet minister decided to end his political career before he was convicted on fraud charges.
He was fined $US15,000 dollars.
