The Christchurch City Council has extended the life of a holiday park it owns in the eastern suburbs.
The council had been considering closing the South New Brighton Holiday Park, because the facilities, badly damaged in the Canterbury earthquakes, may be too expensive to repair.
However, councillors have now voted to seek expressions of interest for the park's development and operation.
Councillor Glenn Livingstone expressed the concerns of residents living at the park due to a lack of housing.
Mr Livingstone said residents were looking for certainty in uncertain times.
