Police are stepping up their presence in a west Auckland suburb as they investigate two firearms incidents.
Yesterday, two people were taken into custody after a firearm was reportedly discharged at Keegan Drive in Massey.
About 2am another incident occurred outside a property on the same street. Police say initial indications show about eight shots were fired at parked vehicles.
No people were found at the property and no one is known to be injured at this stage.
The scene is being examined at the address and the surrounding area in Massey.
Of the two people taken into custody yesterday, one has since been arrested on an unrelated matter.
Detective Senior Sergeant Megan Goldi said inquiries into the incidents were ongoing and they could not rule out the possibility of further arrests or charges being laid.
"This will ... no doubt be concerning to the families living nearby and the wider community."
They say anyone who witnessed suspicious activity before or after 2am in the Massey area can call Waitematā Crime Squad on (09) 839 0697 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
