Five locations of interest in the Hutt Valley were identified today just before the Ministry of Health confirmed a case in the region.

In today's update, where it was revealed there were 56 new community cases, the Ministry said the Hutt Valley case had a link to the Lakes DHB area.
The person is self-isolating, and case interviews have found a small number of household contacts, who are also isolating with testing arranged.
The locations of interest so far are Pak'n'Save Lower Hutt, Warehouse Stationery Lower Hutt, Naenae Four Square, a bakery in Waiwhetū and the Trentham Minimart.
Fuda Bakery owner Yen Wu said health officials told her this morning that they were at low risk of catching the coronavirus and could operate as normal.
However, she had put a sign in the window alerting customers that the bakery had been listed as a location of interest.
Wu said most customers did not seem to be bothered by the news, because they were fully vaccinated.

The ministry is urging anyone in the Hutt Valley area with symptoms - no matter how mild - to get tested, even if they are vaccinated - and remain isolated until they return a negative test result.
