Cattle have died after a stock truck rolled in central Hawke's Bay this morning.
The accident happened around 8.50am on Elsthorpe Road between St Lawrence and Auta Roads.
Police said the driver sustained minor injuries and some of the cattle died or were injured.
A spokesperson said a vet was called to the scene to help.
Nearby farmers also helped out.
Oil had leaked onto the road and local authorities sent a clean-up crew.
After about an hour, all the cattle had been removed from the truck.
It is not known when the truck will be removed and the road reopened.
