Further talks are expected at French Polynesia's presidency tomorrow to try to end an open-ended public and private sector general strike launched last Thursday.
After yesterday's negotiations, the government said agreement had been reached on all main points, except over the make-up of the administration of the CPS social welfare agency.
The government insists that employee representatives may not make up more than a third, while the unions want majority control.
A preliminary deal suggests that a fund will be created in 2023 for those who lose their jobs.
The strike has been observed by few union members and there have been only minor disruptions.
