Tuesday's headlines: New Otago Rugby Football Union board expected to include two faces from the old board; Manukau harbour dinghy rescue efforts outlined; 550km trip through Central Otago for small church being moved from Balclutha to Clydesvale.

Under the headline 'Six heroes of the harbour' The New Zealand Herald outlines the stories behind the individuals who jumped into Manukau harbour on Sunday afternoon, to help pull three children from the water after their dinghy capsized.

Rescuer Alan Godfrey, who dove into the chilly water in his underwear, performed CPR on one child for 10 minutes before they were winched to safety.

Waikato Times

The Waikato Times reports on the grim discovery of a female skeleton buried in the dunes at Port Waikato by a woman walking her dog on Saturday morning. Police believe the remains may have been buried for many years.

Dominion Post

The Dominion Post reports that a second victim of a serial rapist who kept a woman as a sex slave believes he is exaggerating mild dementia to avoid being sent to prison. The paper reports the woman, who is related to the man, was raped by him when she was 15 and visiting during the school holidays.

The Press reports the Government has been told to back off pressuring Christchurch into selling its assets. Mayor Bob Parker says the council has proved can fund its share of the city's recovery without resorting to asset sales.

Two bodies, believed to be a mother and daughter who went missing last week, have been recovered from a car. The car was found on Monday in dense bush 25 metres down a bank off Dyers Pass Rd.

The Otago Daily Times reports the new board of the Otago Rugby Football Union is expected to be named on Tuesday and is likely to include two faces from the old board.

A small Otago church made a long journey on Monday because a bridge was not strong enough. Instead of a 26km trip from Balclutha to Clydesvale, the movers of the building had to take a 550km detour through Central Otago.

And the paper reports that students at Cumberland College are sleeping with the lights on, after a supposed sighting of a ghost known as the Grey Lady. Others have taken advantage of the situation to play pranks.
