Legal high protest in Whangarei

17:37 pm on 26 April 2014

The latest in a string of protests outside shops selling synthetic cannabis has been held in Whangarei.

Protest organiser Darcel Bolton says about 15 people were there and the intention was to keep up the momentum of community opposition to legal highs.

Ms Bolton and her fellow protesters want all synthetic cannabinoids banned.

"We have a lot of underage users in Whangerei, it's becoming very publicly used also."

Ms Bolton says she doesn't accept the argument that banning synthetic cannabinoids will just drive their use underground.
