The owner of an earthquake prone building in Wellington is hopeful the High Court will make a decision about whether it can be demolished soon.
Last year the Environment Court ruled the Harcourts Building on Lambton Quay, which meets only 17 percent of the building code, could not be demolished.
Mark Dunajstchik spent the last two days this week in the High Court appealing that decision and says the judge gave them comfort a decision would not take too long.
He said the judge acknowledged that there is a degree of urgency because the case has been going for a long time.
Mr Dunajstchik said he has always maintained there are no tenants willing to lease a C or D grade building, meaning strengthening would not be commercially viable.
