A man has been arrested in Christchurch after attempting to break into the city's Justice and Emergency Services Precinct.
Police say the 26-year-old was spotted trying to jump the gate on Lichfield Street in the central city by a precinct employee at about 10am today.
A police spokesperson said while the man made it to the top of the wall, he did not enter the precinct.
He was taken into custody by police and is set to appear in court this afternoon.
The precinct houses Christchurch's courts, police, ambulance and corrections staff.
