Police have identified a woman found dead on a Hawke's Bay beach, and say her death is not being treated as suspicious.
Her body was found washed up on a private beach known locally as Tait's Beach, near Tangoio north of Napier, yesterday afternoon.
A family with young children out fishing were the first to discover her body.
Detective Sergeant Darren Pritchard said the 38-year-old Napier woman's car had been found on Marine Parade, and the matter was being referred to the coroner.
The land where the woman's body was found is managed by Forest Management NZ.
Its manager, Steve Bell, said his colleague found the body during the trip with his family, and immediately called the police. The discovery had left the family shaken, he said.
