There's genuine confidence in the New Zealand cricket camp going into the first test against Australia starting on Thursday in Brisbane.
While the Black Caps have been impressive in their 4-day warmup match against Australia, their chances of a rare test win over Australia have been boosted by the withdrawal of five home players with injury, and Australia will field a fast bowling trio who'll all be making their test debuts.
On the final day of their warmup game, the New Zealanders made 467-6 in their second innings, including 138 from skipper Ross Taylor and a swashbuckling 175 from Jesse Ryder which included a world record-equalling 16 sixes.
The three new test bowlers playing for Australia A - Ben Cutting, Mitchell Starc and James Pattinson - conceded well over 100 runs apiece during the match, and they were used sparingly in the Black Caps second innings.
