Celebrations will open in Tonga today leading up to the coronation of King George Tupou V on August the 1st.
The first events marking the main occasion in three weeks include a rugby tournament which will be accompanied by the Heilala Festival.
According to the Matangi Tonga website, the programme also includes a Youth Musical festival.
Two days before the coronation, a kava ceremony is to be held.
Dignitaries and representatives from royal families from around the world are expected for the coronation of King George Tupou V who succeeded his father two years ago.
