The government has launched its new $22 million unit to help New Zealanders who fall victim to cyber attacks.
The launch of Cert NZ had been delayed due to the Kaikōura earthquake last November.
The new agency will now be the first port of call for individuals or companies to report an online threat or attack.
Director Rob Pope said Cert NZ would provide advice and guidance, but would not be a remedial service.
"We'll receive reports of all types in nature and where necessary will be able to refer them to ... police, DIA," Mr Pope said.
