The two victims of a fatal bus crash in South Auckland were both local men, say police.
Emergency services were called to the crash at the intersection of Wyllie Road and Puhinui Road around 7pm.
The Go Bus Airporter bus, which is contracted by Auckland Transport, hit two pedestrians as it turned in Wyllie Road.
Senior Sergeant Pete Marriott said the bus was carrying passengers at the time.
They were moved onto a different bus and offered support.
"There were three other people involved but they were on the bus and they were looked at by ambulance officers and they had no injuries and they were sent straight home," Mr Marriot said.
"It's incredibly tragic that two people have lost their lives this evening, who were just out of the evening, and our thoughts are with the families at this time."
Mr Marriot is urging people to take care while driving or crossing roads at night in changeable weather.
Police are advising motorists to avoid the area.
