The Fiji men's sevens team will compete at the Fiji Coral Coast Sevens in Sigatoka next week, as their final tournament before the Perth Sevens at the end of the month.

Head coach Osea Kolinisau said the team has been training after a short break following the Dubai and Cape Town tournaments, at the begininning of December.

Competition for selection has been good, Kolinisau said, as players battle to secure spots for the Perth event, which kicks off the 2025 leg of the HSBC Sevens Series.

"It's good to see all the boys," he said.

"All will be ready for the Coral Coast and everybody will be fighting for a spot.

Kolinisau said their one-week camp before the Christmas break was good and the players have returned to camp again to continue with their preparations.

"It's been good having the boys back in camp," he said.

A squad of 12 players is expected to be named for the Coral Coast Sevens while other players will join the Mark Friday Selection, which will feature international players invited to join that side.

Kolinisau said he will name his squad for the Perth tournament at the end of the Coral Coast event.

The Fijians broke a 22-tournament winless drought at the Dubai Sevens at the end of November and currently lead the HSBC Sevens Series after two tournaments.

The New Zealand men's and women's sevens teams are also going to be in action at the Coral Coast Sevens in Sigatoka, starting 16 January.
