There will be no change to the guidelines around prescribing cannabis-based products, Associate Health Minister Peter Dunne says.
Mr Dunne asked ministry officials to undertake a targeted consultation with a range of medical specialists and the Medical Association to determine whether the guidelines used to assess applications for prescribing cannabis-based products were still fit for purpose.
He said the feedback was unanimously supportive that the guidelines and process are sound.
However, the National Organisation for the Reform of Marijuana Laws said the current guidelines are cruel and unnecessarily tough, and need to be changed.
