Declining health levels in American Samoa have been the catalyst for a health and wellness hub focusing on traditional healing practices.
A film maker called Queen Muhammad Ali has got $US500,000 funding from ArtPlace America, which invests in community development projects.
Ms Ali want to help reverse the epidemic of poor health by archiving and documenting the traditional medicinal and healing arts of the Samoan culture.
She told Sela Jane Hopgood about her plans for the facility.
