Fire at Northland bach treated as suspicious

An investigator is set to head to the scene of a suspicious fire in Shipwreck Bay, in Northland later today.

Emergency services were called to a fire at a bach in Ahipara just after 4am on Monday.

The blaze, in the single story 10m by 10m property was well alight when crews arrived.

Four trucks and a tanker where sent to the scene but no one was injured.

The fire is being treated as suspicious.

Crews also battled a house fire in Waimamaku, Northland.

They were called there just before 2am on Monday and have managed to put the fire out.

In Canterbury, a fire destroyed a house in Hinds, near Ashburton, on Sunday evening.

No-one was injured and the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
