One of Dunedin's most well-known buildings could become the home to the city's public library, depending on a feasibility study.
The former Chief Post Office building on Princes Street opened in 1937, but has languished in a state of disrepair for more than a decade despite being one of the city's most prized heritage buildings.
The building is owned by South Canterbury Finance after plans to develop it into a Hilton Hotel failed last year.
Dunedin City Council will undertake a six-month feasibility study to help it decide whether to relocate the public library from Moray Place.
