PINA head says merger with PIBA awaits completion

The president of Pacific Islands News Association says he hopes difficulties will be overcome soon to complete a merger with the Pacific Islands Broadcasting Association.

Lance Polu says there have been major problems because the merger was rushed.

He says they just need more time to sort things out, including whether to be based in Samoa or Fiji.

"Well its happening. Just this past week, we're moving on that. The PACNEWS is now based at the PINA office in Suva and I'm going back there next week to sort a lot of things up. But despite the delays of which I think it wasn't foreseen in the process when they decided to merge it, there were a lot of details that they should've been addressed then."

Lance Polu says the new PINA board inherited such problems and has had to endure criticisms that the merger is taking too long.
