Naomi Ferguson has been appointed as the interim board chair of Te Whatu Ora / Health New Zealand.
Ferguson is the former commissioner and chief executive of Inland Revenue.
Health Minister Ayesha Verrall said on Tuesday she was a highly-accomplished leader that would bring a wealth of governance experience to Te Whatu Ora.
Ferguson has also worked across tax administration, health and social welfare sectors in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
She will serve as interim chair, effective immediately, until a permanent appointment is made.
She replaced Rob Campbell, who was sacked last week for breaching impartiality rules.
