A child has died after being hit by a car in a driveway in suburban south Auckland this afternoon.

Emergency services were called just after 5pm to Smiths Avenue in Papukura.
Earlier in the, a Waikato highway was closed off after a serious crash involving a car and a motorcycle in which one person died.
The police say the crash on the Kopu-Hikuai Road - which forms State Highway 25A - happened just before 4pm this afternoon.
The crash was about 15 kilometres from Kopu.
The Serious Crash Unit has been advised in both crashes.
