06:00 am on 11 December 2021

The Solomon Islands Red Cross says victims of the recent unrest in the capital are in need of phsychosocial support.

Three days of rioting and looting and burning of shops has caused over $SBD500 million dollars worth of damage and put at least 1000 people out of a job.

The Red Cross peeps say they expect to complete their assessment on affected communities this weekend.

One of the challenges they are facing is getting people affected by the unrest to come forward and speak to the volunteers.

Red Cross Secretary General Clement Manuri spoke to Christine Rovoi who asked if the capital was experiencing food shortages as a result of so many businesses and retail shops being looted and torched.
