Two people have been charged with drug offences after police executed two search warrants in relation to methamphetamine supply in South Otago.

The two men, both aged 23, will appear in Dunedin District Court today.
Police discovered drugs, drug paraphernalia and the components of a firearm during the searches in Balclutha - a rural service town about 80km south of Dunedin, Clutha-Taieri area response manager Cynthia Fairley said.
"The supply of meth in the rural communities is a serious concern to police and it is always a good result to be able to disrupt the supply, and hold people accountable for it," she said.
"It is a highly addictive and detrimental drug, even in small communities.
"It causes extreme harm to users, and their families and whānau.
"To us, being able to act upon good information reinforces why we do what we do, as it ensures that we can keep our towns and our young people safe."
The search warrants were executed without incident.
Ms Fairley called on anyone with knowledge of the drug trade to contact the police or report information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
"Police also want to remind the community there are services that can assist with drug addiction, and we encourage anyone who wants to get help to get in touch with them," she said.
"If you or someone you know needs help, you can either talk to your local GP or the Clutha Mental Health team on Clyde Street, Balclutha, or Tokomairiro Wairoa on Union Street, Milton."
