The Royal Commission on the Pike River coal mine disaster is calling for applications from those who want to give evidence.

The Commission is seeking expressions of interest from those who wish to be heard or give written evidence.

The inquiry will look into the cause of the disaster in which 29 men died on 19 November.

Notices were published in national and West Coast newspapers on Saturday.

No date has been set yet for the hearings to begin.

The Royal Commission is to report by 31 March, 2012. It says all expressions of interest must be received by 18 February.
