Six French Senators have comleted a tour of Tonga, the first such parliamentary visit since the two countries signed a Friendship Treaty signed in 1855.
The delegation was led by Senator Jean-Pierre Demerliat and represented a range of political parties.
He says Tonga's a rare and unique country because it has not been colonised.
The Senator says they wanted to see first-hand the local institutions, its economic activities, how society works, and gain a better understanding of Tonga's plans and aspirations.
