One person is dead following a collision between a truck and a car in Hawke's Bay on Sunday morning.
The crash was reported to emergency services about 8.10am.
Police earlier said initial indications were that there were serious injuries.
SH2 was closed north of Takapau and was expected to say closed for most of the day, police said. A detour was in place via SH50.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area and expect ongoing delays.
