Fire crews are battling a large forestry blaze west of Palmerston North.
Fire and Emergency were called to the fire half way between Himatangi and Tangimoana at 6pm this evening.
No properties are believed to be at risk as the fire is in a forestry block.
Crews will remain at the scene overnight building a fire break and trying to contain the blaze.
