Fiji is to hold its first census in ten years this September.
Fiji media reported recruitment is to start soon to gather information from households around the country.
The economy minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum told the Fiji Sun the census will help determine government policies and the number of seats in parliament as well as help development partners.
He said the Bureau of Statistics' increased budget allocation this year would enable it to buy the appropriate technology to make census work easier.
He said a lot of young people could be deployed for the exercise.
