Pacific education ministers seek more resources

13:47 pm on 15 October 2010

Pacific Islands Forum Education Ministers have called for quick progress on a three-stage strategy to improve education in the region.

At a meeting in Port Moresby, they have acknowledged the key role education plays in the development of Pacific countries and have urged governments to allocate the necessary resources to the sector.

They have also called for all bodies to work together to implement the Pacific Education Development Framework.

This Framework will start with a baseline survey to get accurate information on the needs and status of education systems in the region.

The Ministers want the member countries to complete it by the end of the year.
