As winter weather works its way around the country, heavy rain and snow are expected in some areas.
MetService warns that heavy rain may affect Coromandel Peninsula and western Bay of Plenty overnight.
A low is expected to lie slow moving just east of the Coromandel Peninsula this evening and overnight, but then move away to the east.
Slow moving bands of rain associated with this low may affect the Coromandel Peninsula and the west of the Bay of Plenty, MetService said.
Localised downpours of 20-30mm/h are possible, which could occur with or without thunderstorms.
People are advised to keep up to date with the latest forecasts.
In the south, snowfall is easing but MetService has issued road snow warnings for Lewis Pass and Porters Pass through until Thursday morning.
Drivers are warned to be aware of winter road conditions.
