The prince laid a wreath and joined hundreds of others marking the 108th anniversary of the World War I conflict.

He has frequently commemorated Anzac Day at services in Britain.

King Charles also marked Anzac Day through the official Royal Family Twitter account, which wrote, "we pay tribute to all the men and women in the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, who served and died in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations."

King Charles will mark his coronation on Saturday night NZ time, eight months after his mother Queen Elizabeth II died at age 96.
