The strong run of growth in job advertisements has come to an end.
ANZ Bank's job ads index eased a seasonally adjusted 0.6 percent in May when compared with the month before.
Wellington ads dipped slightly, Auckland was flat, while Canterbury ads rose more than 1 percent.
There's continued demand for workers in the construction, manufacturing and services sectors.
ANZ said labour demand was strong and firms were finding it difficult to get skilled staff.
It said wages should climb this year and the unemployment rate was likely to stay below 5 percent.
