A bill appropriating $US100 million for government operations in the Northern Marianas has been introduced in the US House of Representatives.
The Northern Mariana Islands Coronavirus Emergency Assistance Act seeks to address the budget cuts and austerity measures the CNMI is undergoing due to the impact of Covid-19 on the local economy.
The bill is intended to make sure the people of the CNMI, especially seniors and the children, continue to have access to care and education essential to health, safety and well-being.
Last Friday, US President Donald Trump signed an $8.3 billion emergency bill to fund federal agencies combat the outbreak.
There are currently 438 Covid-19 cases in the US.
