Australia want revenge over New Zealand for their World Cup final defeat and coach Lisa Alexander is adamant she's the right person to deliver it.

The Diamonds slumped to a one-point defeat to the Silver Ferns in June's World Cup decider, prompting doubts over Alexander's future.

The Constellation Cup starts in Christchurch on October 13 and Alexander will bring up her 100th match at the helm in the second game of the four-test series in Auckland on October 16.

She said while she had given thought to her position, she was excited to lead Australian netball back to the summit of the world game.

"You consider everything but at the end of the day I absolutely do think I am the best person to take our team forward," Alexander told ABC's Offsiders programme.

"I'm really looking forward to this challenge.

"A one-goal loss is extremely hard to take but I think what we got from that one-goal loss is a great hope that we're very close ... I know that the athletes felt the same.

"We're going to be making sure this is redressed in the Constellation Cup series definitely."

After the two tests in New Zealand, the Constellation Cup moves to Australia with matches in Sydney and Perth on October 20 and 27.

The Diamonds hold the Constellation Cup and have won eight of the nine series, including all of the past six.

Alexander said losing the Commonwealth Games title and the World Cup had shown international netball's competition was as strong as it's ever been.

"We know what our opposition are able to do," she said.

"They're obviously in the world's best domestic competition, Super Netball, but they're also preparing much more professionally and like what the Diamonds have set the standard in.

"We've got to raise that bar higher."
