Fiji's prime minister has named the first candidate for his proposed political party.
According to FBC News, Rear Admiral Frank Bainimarama has announced that the minister in charge of women and social welfare, Jiko Luveni, will enter politics.
More names are reportedly due to be released soon.
However, the regime leader is yet to launch his party to contest the election which he has promised for September.
To register a party, he needs to get 5,000 members, with all candidates required to disclose their assets.
So far, he has refused repeated calls to declare his taxpayer-funded income.
Fiji is also still awaiting the appointment of an election supervisor.
