An ANZ bank official has offered apologies to bank customers in American Samoa over ongoing inconveniences due to long queues at its two branches in the Territory.

Due to the Bank of Hawai'i winding down to shut down its local operations, many customers have complained about the waiting time to be served.

Some of the complaints have reached the governor's office.

ANZ's spokesperson for the Pacific region said the bank is committed to resolving the situation quickly and its looking to increase staff.

The spokesperson has also advised customers to use automated teller machines or ATMs where possible.
