The Tonga Prime Minister, Akilisi Pohiva, is to visit New Zealand this week, his first official visit here.
The New Zealand Prime Minister John Key says helping one of this country's closest neighbours to reach its development objectives is a key priority.
Mr Pohiva will be formally welcomed at Government House in Auckland on Thursday.
He will also travel to Nelson to meet with Tongans taking part in the Recognised Seasonal Employer scheme.
